The Rangeley Lake region in Maine is well know for trophy Brook Trout and Land Locked Salmon. Many flies that would be called "traditional" or "classic" flies came from this region in the later part of the 19th and early part of the 20th century. The flies range from lang streamer type flies to resemble the smelt in many of the lakes and smaller wet flies to resemble many of the various smaller bait fish and drowned insects. If you have attended any of our Wet Fly or Classic Freshwater Fly classes in the past than these flies will be very familiar to you.

In this class we will tie up two wet fly patterns and  on freshwater streamer pattern. All three originated in the Rangeley Lake region and were well know for their fish catching ability. This class will focus on these three patterns, their history and how they were commonly fished.
