10/07 - Steelhead Streamers
Although many steelhead fishermen and women love to throw nymphs all day for steelies there is nothing quite like the strike of a big steelhead on a swung streamer. One of the nice things about swinging streamers for steelhead is that you do not have to do hardly anything in terms of fishing. The only thing you have to do is try to get your fly down to the fish and then wait for that strike. Unlike nymph fishing where you are adjusting indicators, always watching and hoping that twitch is finally a fish and not another rock.
There are many different patterns that can be thrown for steelhead. Some old and some new. Plus, there are many ways to tie these patterns. Different colors, weighted vs. non-weighted, material action and size are all factors to consider.
In this class we will focus on three different patterns that are great streamers to swing for steelhead. Each can be tied in different colors and sizes and even with varying materials to produce different effects.
