Intermediate Fly Tying Class
Class: Scuds and Sowbugs
Date/Time: August  9th, 2008, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Maximum Size: 8
Instructor: Ian Anderson
Cost: $10.00
Synopsis of Class
If you have ever done any trout nymphing then odds are you have used scuds or sowbugs to try and catch fish.  Scuds and sowbugs are common to coldwater tailwaters and fortunately for us, they are very common in the tailwaters of Brookville reservoir.  In fact, they are so prolific you need not fish much else to have a great day.

Another great thing about these flies is they are very basic and easy flies to tie.  We will be tying four different flies in class this Saturday but we will be tying a number of them two and three times.  The reason is that with minor variations you can produce different and effective patterns.  This way you can outfit an entire fly box in no time with just a few simple patterns.

The flies you will tie are,

Fox's Dead Drift Sow Bug

Scud Nymph

Fox's Worm Scud
